Antamina news Peru 2024

The Peruvian government approves the modification of Antamina’s environmental impact assessment (MEIA)

February 20, 2024

Antamina is one of the leading copper producers in Peru, and one of the largest in the world; its shareholders are BHP, Glencore, Teck and Mitsubishi.

This approval enables an investment of approximately US$ 2 billion over the next few years, following Antamina’s internal governance process, which will allow the company to extend its operations from 2028 to 2036 in the Ancash region.

The investment will be phased over the next few years, and will focus on the optimisation of existing mining components within Antamina’s current area of operations (pit, dumps and tailings dam).
